Over 58,000 (58,310 cases to be exact) cases of rape were pending in various trial courts across India at the end of last year. This was admitted by Union Law Minister. The figure must have substantially increased by now. Despite setting up of more then 1500 Fast Track Courts, heavy backlog and continuous additions has made it impossible for victims to get justice in time.
Do you have such heavy backlog in your countries?

Law and Bargirls Movement
This is a paper presented by me at one workshop last month. The theme of the workshop was 'Law and social movements'. It was attended by scholars and academicians from different parts of the world. (I was the only dumb person present there.)
The Workshop was organized by Prabha Kotiswaran, a doctoral candidate at Harvard Law School and was primarily supported by the Hauser Center for Non-Profit Organizations at the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard.
