I had perfect pregnancy's. No morning sickness, no problems, jsut got huge. Birth now that was a totally different kettle of fish - both emergency cesarians, first one I needed a blood transfusion afterwards!

Pregnancies? How many pregnancies you had dear?
faffajane pro http://faffajane.blog.co.uk/ 08/11/06 @ 16:59
Only 2! Didn't want a third Cesarian!
varshakale [Member] 08/11/06 @ 17:05
So you had two Cesarian?
faffajane pro http://faffajane.blog.co.uk/ 08/11/06 @ 17:10
yes both emergencies as well.
varshakale [Member] 08/11/06 @ 17:17
Do you have some ater effects of it? Because the only delivery I had was normal.
faffajane pro http://faffajane.blog.co.uk/ 08/11/06 @ 17:44
First one yes because body went into shock and had problems for about two years after the birth. Also I was severly anaemic after the birth so had to have a blood transfusion and was given the wrong blood, so that caused problems as well. 2nd delivery, though sore, I got over a lot quicker, probably because I had a spinal during the cesarian so was awake throughout whereas for the first I was asleep so it took longer to get over.

You are brave woman faffajane so are many women. Despite of all hardship involve they feel pregnancy wonderful. I salute all women.
faffajane pro http://faffajane.blog.co.uk/ 08/11/06 @ 18:10
I think we suffer a lot more as women than men do, they don't know the half of it!
varshakale [Member] 08/11/06 @ 19:18
Even if they know half of it, experiencing the pains and risk involved is altogether different. But this is also our strength I suppose as only heart and body of woman can go through it. Am I right?
faffajane pro http://faffajane.blog.co.uk/ 08/11/06 @ 19:54
Yes and the bonding afterwards as well with the child.
varshakale [Member] 08/11/06 @ 20:01
Surely but here men can develop bonds with child. They are not like their counterparts in other spacies who kill their own male offsprings. On the contrary men can develop good relation with child after initial period when they are helpless to have any bonding with infant.
faffajane pro http://faffajane.blog.co.uk/ 08/11/06 @ 20:13
There is no denying that men can bond with their child as well. Some however feel helpless when that child is an infant, and sometimes mothers can feel that way as well. We all go through a learning process with children afterall they are not born with manuals! But sometimes when you give birth you have a natural bond, you have carried it for nine months, seen your body change, felt it move. Men don't get that unless we let them feel our bodies during pregnancy. Some men get turned off watching a child being born othes feel a natural protection towards the child as it is being born. Some men feel proud if their wives give birth to boy children, indifferent towards girls. Girls in some cultures cost money. you have to provide a dowry for them when they get married, other cultures you have to pay for the wedding unless they pay for it themselves. boys can be useful for making the right connections. Some probably bond better with boy children than girls, some want to protect girls.
I'm waffling here sorry!
varshakale [Member] 08/11/06 @ 21:01
No you are not waffling dear. Its harsh reality. Some things that you mentioned are rooted in Indian society. Birth of girl is looked down upon and many times they ae kiiled in the womb. Dowry demands lead to domestic violence and killing of women.
Men can only develop relation with their children after children are grown up enough to control themselves physically. Yes and many times they have gender preferences among their own children and which is very common in India. For boy childs education girls are taken out of schools. Even boys are served first and given better food then girls. Every woman in rural India regrets for having taken birth as woman. Its hard fact of life dear.

There are many cultures where we live, most are of indian descent. As a result the hospital will not tell you what sex the chid is when they do the scan as they know the Indian societies do not wnat girl children. There have been recent cases where Indian girls have been killed because they have fallen in love with people that are not of the same religion/sect/culture as them. I find this really sad that they have to feel this way even when they live in western society. I find it hard the way they treat girl children here, my friend in school many years ago was sent away, age 12, to marry the husband of her family's choice. Ok she was fortunate she had a good life, but age 12? I think us in the west find it hard to accept what is perceived as right in other societies/cultures which leads to them not being accepted and therefore leads to racism, rather then trying to understand. It is sad.

It is really sad. However defending 'hoour killing', dowry, female infanticide in the name of culture is terrible.
They are degenerated part of culture or rather practices that creeped into culture.
i thought pregnancy was amazing: my body making a baby. but it was also stressful as i was on my own and wondering how i was ever going to cope etc, etc.
childbirth though was very difficult, and i don't think there's a woman out there who doesn't feel some kind of fear, especially with the first child.
becoming a mother was the best thing i did with my life.
trolly x
