How even after so many deaths, so much awareness, so many laws, people can still demand dowry, harrass woman to death?
Posh area or otherwise living as woman is difficult. Do you agree?

Yes it is true, our lives appear less worthy.
I thought dowries were now outlawed in India or is that ignored like so many laws, in so many countries ?

yes it is not only outlawed there are some harsh laws for its prevention, but very low conviction rate make them quite ineffective.

It is a big shame that women in large parts of this world are absused, harrassed and not properly treated as equal human beings to men. Even in the so-called "western" countries, women's rights and equality are not as firmly established as we may think. It took a long time with us to come to the present situation in the part of the world where I live (Germany), and we're still not at an all-satisfying point, I guess. So in countries like India where women's rights are still a very young accomplishment, it may not be surprising that people still act along the old ways despite the laws and the efforts to raise awareness about the problem. But this is certainly no reason to give up! Sooner or later, ALL PEOPLE will have to realize that we are ONE WORLD and ONCE RACE, and that women and men have to stand by each other equally and in peace.

What exactly is a dowry?
I read the other day about a campaign in India which successfully removed a comparison between women and donkeys from a 14 year old girls' textbook. Were you behind that campaign?
I do think life is difficult for women. We are expected to bring up the family and do domestic work as well as earning a living. I think this is harsh on men as well. Men aren't encouraged to participate in their childrens' upbringing and family life and I think many of them live to regret it.

Dowry is amount, property, wealth in cash or kind that brides father suppose to give to bidegroom at the time of marriage. It means the family of woman pays to in laws to for accepting their daughter as daughter in law. It is opposite of bride price.
Regarding donkey issue, I only condenmed it as I reside in different state and my effort was of no consequence. The people and groups in that state got it removed.
